About me

I have been teaching math at Target Range School for 26 years now! In fact, I am the most senior staff member here at TR! I love Target Range and the family that it has become for me. Teaching students in both 7th and 8th grade allows me to build a strong relationship with kids and families over the two years. I grew up in Colorado, got my undergraduate degree at Dartmouth, and my master's degree here at the University Montana. I have two children who have been part of the Target Range family and I spend most of my time following them to their many, many activities! My daughter has just matriculated at Boise State University and my son is starting at Big Sky High school so I have a lot of transitions in my life this year. But Target Range will always be home and family for me.

What you can expect in 7th and 8th grade math this year

The seventh grade math curriculum includes fractions, negatives, proportions, algebra, geometry, probability, and statistics. The eighth grade curriculum expands on all the seventh grade topics and includes functions, linear equations, and graphs. The Algebra 1 curriculum includes all the eighth grade topics as well as quadratic and exponential functions, polynomial arithmetic, and many types of advanced equations.

How we can work together

There are so many ways to stay current with math class. Students can access Google Classroom each day for announcements, assignments, and lesson videos or explorations. Grades are posted in Infinite Campus on a regular basis so both students and parents can keep up with student progress and missing assignments. I encourage both students and parents to use email as a means of communication. Students should expect about 15 minutes of math homework a night and should be encouraged to do their best and ask questions the next day in class if they need help or are unable to finish. Communication is the key to making the year as successful as possible!
